Project type: Restoration
Artist: Carlos Cruz-Diez
Status: Undergoing inspection
Project year: 1981
Location: Asociación de Ejecutivos del Estado Carabobo headquarters, Valencia, Venezuela.
Due to its proximity to Caracas and access to maritime transportation in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo is one of the most industrialized states in the country. The city’s embellishment began in the 80’s with the integration of works of art into its most emblematic buildings, adding aesthetic value to the industrial appearance of this region. This allowed passers-by to awaken dormant perceptions through art as they moved around the city. Such was the case of the Association of Executives of the State of Carabobo (AEEC), whose building was awarded in the VIII Biennal of Architecture, where it was honored by the CAV, CONAV, and Fundarte.
Induction du Jaune is part of the Chromatic Ambiance created by Carlos Cruz-Diez for the Association of Executives of the State of Carabobo headquarters, and it is showcased on the building façade in four cross-shaped modules, 10 meters high each. The work is based on the retinal persistence and the yellow induction effect. At the time, the piece was one of the most emblematic artworks produced by Cerámica Carabobo and currently represents an important part of the city of Valencia’s identity from a patrimonial, historic, iconic, and symbolic standpoint.
