CARLOS CRUZ-DIEZ

Project type: Restoration

Artist: Carlos Cruz-Diez

Status: Undergoing inspection

Project year: 1993

Location: Colina Creativa, Centro de Artes Integradas, Caracas – Venezuela

The Integrated Arts Center (Centro de Artes Integradas) was founded in 1979 motivated by an urge to integrate all artistic disciplines: music, dance, theater, and plastic arts. The proposal was to create an educational and cultural center of the highest standard that would allow for a direct intervention of the private sector in the development of art in Venezuela. The center extends for over 12 acres of land inside the Metropolitan University in the Terrazas del Ávila residential development, in which Colina Creativa and Colegio Integral El Ávila were built.

Colina Creativa is located in the Metropolitan University rental area and comprises 7 buildings, including 4 schools focused on Cinema, Theater, Photography, and plastic arts. The remaining units are intended for use as rental offices for different art, science and technology related companies.

Shaped as a grandstand and with sophisticated chromatics, Inducción Cromática a Doble Frecuencia sits outdoors, framed by a vegetable environment. It was created by Carlos Cruz-Diez for Colina Creativa’s gardens in the Metropolitan University Integrated Arts Centers; it is a unique piece, of unrepeatable nature, designed for the indulgence of the senses.
